The Youth Pledge ‘Sumpah Pemuda’ is a declaration made in 1928 by the young Indonesian nationalists, proclaimed three principal ideas: one motherland, one nation, and one language. The declaration is meant to inspire a sense of unity and also about educational issues.

For 10 days from October 18 to the peak which falls on October 28, the children of Taman Daun are also participating in enlivening Youth Pledge Day. Around 100 children take part in this event, demonstrating their English skills in Academics, Arts and Culture.

In Taman Daun learning class, the mental and character of children become the main focus. On this Youth Pledge Day, we create a cheerful and friendly atmosphere where children are challenged to express themselves. By learning and playing together, children are also stimulated to think, to respond and to be active. They learn to support and encourage each other instead of competitive minded. In this way we train their mentality, attitudes and characters more effectively. We also explore their strength to develop their full potential.
So happy to see how amazing their progress in just few months. The children who used to be timid are now more confident, sociable, responsive, caring and able to speak English in public.

All the children are very happy, excited and enthusiastic in all activities ranging from fashion show contest wearing traditional woven clothes, singing and dancing, speeches, poetry, drawing and painting, and much more…

They are the next generation of Lembata Regency. It is very difficult if we dream of advancing human resources of the young generation and local communities who are tough and qualified, if they are not educated properly from an early age. Focusing on the quality of early childhood education becomes a very important basis so that in future it becomes easier and better.

Hopefully in near future we can open more learning classes like this in other villages in Lembata and Flores. We also hope that soon there will be additional facilities and teachers for others sciences. I hope Taman Daun can provide an excellent learning tool; which has an important role and giving significant added value in the world of education and personal development of children. So it is not impossible in future they can get scholarship to study abroad or in own country.
The founder of Taman Daun, teachers, volunteer friends are giving their heart and effort to make this event a success. Together we are creating a better future for our children, the next generation of Lembata Regency. – John Batafor ©Artducation Taman Daun
